Stephanie McInnis, MA, RTI International, Charleston, SC

Theoretical Background and research questions/hypothesis:

The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated how important it is for public health professionals to monitor online information sharing in real time due to its rapid pace.

Methods and Results (informing the conceptual analysis):

We conducted topical social media listening activities.

Conclusions:

We will share insights into how social media listening (e.g., conversation volume, online communities, key topics, conversation threads etc.) can be used to better understand the current landscape around Long COVID discussion online, patient experiences, and understanding of NIH’s RECOVER Initiative.

Implications for research and/or practice:

We will also discuss how this is particularly helpful in anticipating audience information needs, addressing misinformation, and crafting messages.
