CDC’s Injury Prevention Center focuses on improving lives by stopping injuries and violence before they happen. Our panelists work in two different areas of injury prevention and with different vulnerable populations—adults ages 65 and older and African Americans. Our topics are different—older adult injury prevention and drug overdose among African Americans—but we have research and dissemination practices in common. Our presentations will explore the formative research conducted, how this research influenced campaign or product development, and evaluation. We’ll highlight strategies and mechanisms used to reach our target populations where they are—including paid and earned media and innovative dissemination through social media influencers—to have the greatest impact. And we’ll share our lessons learned, best practices, and what’s coming next (based on evaluation).
