Spotlight Session: Building Trust Through Social Media: Lessons from the ARTT (Analysis and Response Toolkit for Trust) Project, Sponsored by Hacks/ Hackers
This session is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the possibilities and challenges connected to creating a social media strategy that focuses on building trust with audiences. It will do this through an explanation of the first version of ARTT Guide, a software assistant that provides research-backed communications guidance.
In addition to kicking things off with lessons from existing research on responses to rumors and conflict, the last part of the session asks participants to contribute their own thoughts and questions in interactive opportunities. Key questions for discussion include the need for community, risks involved in two-way communication models, and the ethics of using AI in message creation. The ARTT project has been created through the support of the National Science Foundation’s Convergence Accelerator Program.
