Effective Communication in a Networked Information Environment

Thursday, July 20, 2023: 4:00 PM-5:30 PM
Hanover Hall - C/D/E (Hyatt Regency Downtown Atlanta)
In this era of historically low institutional trust, we want to explore how governments can adapt and better communicate with the public on critical health and science related topics in order to build trust. The panel will explore effective communication strategies, designed to build trust, including frameworks for listening to information needs of communities and creating a networked and participatory communication response to meet those needs, by addressing power differentials and letting go of "the message", building mutually beneficial partnerships and learning how to navigate adversarial environments.
