Thursday, July 20, 2023: 8:00 AM-9:30 AM
Grand Hall East - A/B (Hyatt Regency Downtown Atlanta)
As the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Office of Minority Health (CMS OMH), we are committed to helping minority populations achieve health equity. To aid us in doing so, we developed the CMS Framework for Health Equity which includes five complimentary priorities that will inform CMS’s integrated approach to implementing health equity across the Agency. During this panel session, CMS OMH will discuss how we’re operationalizing each of the five priorities within the Framework. To begin, we’ll highlight how we’re expanding and improving data collection efforts across the Agency before showcasing how we’re using that data to assess causes of disparities within CMS programs that we can address to eliminate disparities. Additionally, we’ll cover how we’re building capacity among the health care workforce, through partnerships, community engagement, and Coverage to Care (C2C), our health literacy initiative in which we create resources, available in multiple languages, that providers can utilize to help patients better understand their health care options. Finally, we’ll close by briefly reviewing how we’re increasing accessibility to health care services and coverage.
