The Move with the Mayor™ Vaccination Initiative demonstrated that engaging mayors to deliver factual messages about vaccination in their own voices is a viable public health partnership strategy. As trusted leaders and community members, mayors are effective influencers. Further, many are eager to partner to advance public health. Involving Republican, Democratic, and independent mayors builds diverse support for vaccination and public health and helps counter disinformation. It also builds bridges and trust in underserved communities. In this panel discussion, a mayor and a CDC communications specialist will join the initiative leader to describe the project, how mayors participate, and how community members respond.
